Enjoy the orange - regularly

It fights infection and helps your heart. This citrus superstar is best known for being loaded with Vitamin C that strengthens white blood cells in order to fend off colds and flu and soluble fiber that lowers cholesterol.

But that’s just for starters. Recent research has found that oranges are also one of the richest sources of hesperidin, an antioxidant that helps speed recovery from a heart attack.

This Vitamin C powerhouse also helps enhance the potency of Vitamin E, another heart protector. Plus, oranges help prevent clogged arteries by relaxing them (which can also lower blood pressure). Many leading nutritionists recommend at least one orange a day, including the pulp, fiber and albedo (the white material just under the peel).
