Going Green Smoothie
A beautiful blend of sweet fruits and fresh spinach, and a great starter recipe for someone who's new to green smoothies.
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) water
- 1 cup (160 g) green grapes
- 1/2 cup (80 g) pineapple chunks
- 1/2 ripe banana peeled
- 2 cups (60 g) fresh spinach packed
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) ice cubes
- Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure lid.
- Select Variable 1.
- Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High.
- Blend for 45 seconds or until desired consistency is reached. Serve immediately.
This recipe has been written for the C-Series machines with Variable Speed control and Standard 64-ounce container. If you are using a different Vitamix machine or container size, you may need to make adjustments to the Variable Speed, processing time, and/or ingredient quantities.

It's hard to believe that there are two cups of spinach in it because it's just so delicious and juicy. My vitamix did an amazing job of blending everything together. I could not taste the skin on the grapes or the spinach leaves at all. I have had this for 3 mornings in a row now. I love it so much!

Here's my version, and I'm certain you'll like it better. - 1 cup rinse baby spinach leaf - 1/2 ripe banana, peeled - 1 slice fresh pineapple, 1/2" thick, trim outer edge away - 1 medium orange, knife peeled, but keep the outer pulp - 1 slice fresh lime, 1/8" thick do not peel - 1 scoop veg based protein powder - 3/4 cup frozen green grapes with seeds - 1/2 cup water Throw it all in the blender, (add protein powder after blending for 15 seconds.) Blend to smooth. You'll love the difference, especially the tang of the lime, which kills the green grass taste of the spinach. No pinching your nose and squinting when you drink this blend! You'll get 3+ hours of energy, great for your mornings.

It's got a mix of everything and I feel soooo much better shortly after I drink it, too. I make an entire pitcher and drink 4 big glasses of it because it's that good! Thank you for whoever came up with this recipe. It's something I'd pay a lot of money for at a retail juice place but don't have to now that I have my Vitamix, too :)

I also added one slice of lime per another reviewer's recommendation, and it's absolutely delicious. I LOVE my Vitamix and I am SO happy I finally bought one. Zero regrets! I anticipate many years of excellent use and wonderful, nourishing foods!

Can the Vitamix Turbo Blend 64oz 2-Speed Blender be used to make Green Smoothies? If so, how do I use the ssettings in order to blend down the smoothie?
Yes you can certainly make this in the TurboBlend 2-speed. You will want to add all ingredients in the same order, start your machine on low and turn machine to high within 5 seconds of starting your Vitamix.

Can Kale be substituted for spinach in a recipe
I use kale all the time In my smoothies. I cut the rib in the leaf (stem) and the rest blends until pulverized. Great way to get its benefits!

If I use frozen fruit, can I omit the ice cubes? Maybe add some almond milk if liquid is needed?
Yes, absolutely! You will want to make sure the frozen ingredients are the last thing being added to your container.

Do seeds from strawberries become pulverized? I can't eat the seeds.

This recipe makes 2.75 servings. Can you refrigerate remainder after drinking 1 serving and not loose flavor or nutrients? Or would you make a small size instead? I need to be mindful of the carbohydrates in my diet. Thank you.
Yes you can refrigerate for a day and not lose to much flavor. You could also cut the recipe in half and it should work well.
