- 1 1/2 cups (300 g) granulated sugar
- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
- Place sugar into the Vitamix container and secure lid.
- Select Variable 1.
- Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High.
- Blend for 30 seconds.
- Remove the lid plug. Add cornstarch through the lid plug opening and blend an additional 10 seconds.
- Let powder settle before removing the lid.
Store in an airtight container.
This recipe has been written for the C-Series and G-Series machines with Variable Speed control and 64-ounce container. If you are using a different Vitamix machine or container size, you may need to make adjustments to the Variable Speed, processing time, and/or ingredient quantities.

Can either container (regular, or dry) be used to make powdered sugar. And is the cornstarch necessary?
But if you have an allergy to corn (and cornstarch): I made perfect hard sauce and also whipped cream with powdered sugar made from evaporated cane sugar without the cornstarch. Apparently, the cornstarch is not absolutely crucial--in future, it can be sifted if there are clumps.

When blending sugar the container may have a minor discoloration from the sugar residue.

Should you use the dry grains container to make powdered sugar? My daughter is allergic to corn. How much potato, arrowroot, or tapioca starch should I use in place of the corn starch?
You can use your dry grain container to make powdered sugar. I would substitute an equal amount of potato starch to create the same effect.
