How to Make Homemade Non-Dairy Nut Milk

Homemade nut milks are a great way to customize your smoothies and discover new flavor combinations. Plus, making your own nut milk like almond milk and cashew milk is easy in a Vitamix blender and tastes better than store-bought varieties.

Dairy alternative milks are made by blending nuts, coconut, rice or soybeans with water. The mixture is then strained through a fine-mesh sieve (lined with cheesecloth for the smoothest results) over a large bowl to filter out the solids, or through Vitamix’s reusable filtration bag. Use the milks as-is, or add vanilla extract, sweetener, or salt to taste for added flavor. The milks will keep up to three days in the refrigerator.

Whether you’re vegan, lactose-intolerant, or simply prefer the dairy-free taste, try swapping these mild and creamy milks for water or dairy.
