Dried pequin chiles give this sauce its heat, which is rounded out with tomato sauce, brown sugar, garlic and cumin.
- 2 cups (480 ml) water
- 2 cups (480 ml) tomato sauce
- 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 dates, pitted
- 3 garlic cloves, peeled
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- ½ cup (20 g) dried pequin chilies
- Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid. Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed, using the tamper to press ingredients toward the blades. Blend for 1 minute.
