- 1 (10 g) medium apple, seeded
- 1 piece fresh ginger root, ½" slice
- 4 (80 g) medjool dates, pitted
- ½ cup (50 g) frozen cranberries
- 4 cups (520 g) ice cubes
Directions
- Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure lid.

- Blend for 45 seconds or until desired consistency is reached, using the tamper to press ingredients toward the blades.
Chef's Notes
This fall-flavored smoothie is a great alternative to plain apple cider. Balance the tart flavors of cranberries with the sweetness of dates. Any ingredients that don't fit can be added in through the lid plug opening while blending.

You are going to love this one!!
I have made this recipe many times since purchasing my VitaMix blender. Since cranberries and sweet potatoes and fresh apples are currently in season, I usually have this a couple times a week. it's that good! One of my favorite smoothies, and not just for Fall.

Will try it.Sounds good, but how much sweet potato
Sweet potatoes are so variable in size that I would like a recommendation of how much, by measurement, is about right for this. A weight would be best or rough cup measure.

Key Ingredient missing
Since this is supposed to be a sweet potato smoothie, it would be really helpful if you actually included that ingredient in the recipe.
I only rate this a one star because of the fact that an incomplete recipe with the key ingredient missing is totally useless.
Otherwise, I have no doubt that, based on the rest, it would be quite delicious.

Missing Ingredient Identified
Although I have not tried out this recipe yet, I do have Vitamix's Savor Recipes book. According to this recipe in their book, it states 1/2 cup cooked sweet potato - peeled and cooled. Hope this helps.

So disappointed!
My husband and I are veritable Vitamix recipe groupies. This was the first recipe that was definitely blah, leaning toward the unpalatable side. Neither of us could finish it. Each ingredient on its own is yummy, but for some reason put them together and it becomes very close to...yuck. Sorry--we've loved every other Vitamix recipe to this point. :-(

I came across this recepie right in time when I had a sweet potato and had no clue what to do with it. I didn't expect much out of this smoothie, but to my surprise it was great. Its a must try. I am making it again and again. Thank you for this.
