Chocolate Dessert Hummus
A guilt-free, easily customizable dark chocolate dip made fresh in minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 can (250 g) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- ⅓ cup (80 ml) skim milk [or almond or coconut milk]
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup (60 ml) tahini
- ¼ cup (25 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 Tablespoons (45 ml) maple syrup [or date syrup]
- 1 Tablespoon dark chocolate [or dairy-free chocolate], chopped, plus more for garnish
- 2 Tablespoons (16 g) walnuts [or almonds or hazelnuts], chopped, for garnish
Directions
- Place all ingredients except the walnuts into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
- Run the Dips & Spreads Program or start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed. Blend for 60 seconds, using the tamper to push ingredients toward the blades.
- Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and garnish with the chopped walnuts and more dark chocolate, if desired.
Notes
Serve with dippers like fresh fruit, pretzels, or graham crackers, or use as a spread for toast, crepes, or pancakes. Have fun with personalizing garnishes; try sliced strawberries or edible blooms. Almond or coconut milk both work well; coconut milk will create a slightly richer texture. Tahini adds healthy fats, while chickpeas contribute plant-based protein and fiber. For deeper flavor, use dark cocoa powder or increase the vanilla slightly.
