How many peanuts?
Hi, I just got a Vitamix and started using it a few days ago. I would like to clarify how many grams of peanuts I need...the cookbook that came with the machine says 440 grams but this online recipe says 420 grams. I used 440g. Mine was really thick but I was afraid to keep the machine running, as it seemed to have trouble getting to the "freely flowing" stage described in the instructions and I was afraid it would overheat. I ended up putting the very thick mixture in my food processor and that made it creamy and smooth. Any thoughts? Maybe I used too many peanuts? I'm going to try again, but didn't know if anyone else had these issues? Thank you!

Great PB much better than organic store bought
I like peanut butter but have been putting off making my own. Today was the day to give it a try. I used three cups of Hoody’s Dry Roasted Peanuts from Costco and added just a little honey and processed as per the directions above. I was very pleased with the final product. I used a regular spatula and a small spatula to transfer the peanut butter to a storage jar. That process was easy and it cleaned out all peanut butter. Cleaning the Vitamix was easy, I added water and dish soap and let the machine do most of the work, it cleaned up around and under the blades with no problem. I didn’t time it but from start to finish including cleanup was not more than 20 minutes.

peanut butter
I bought my Vitamix a week ago, this is the first time I have used the container, (I bought the single smoothy attachment and have used it daily, really awesome!). I have owned a Vitamix for at least 10 years and decided to upgrade. I make peanut butter a lot, this was great! I used to have to add oil, but I tried the recipe online without oil in the 48 oz container it perfectly! It came out so smooth everything happened as explained in the recipe. It flowed out of the container into my jars and the cleanup was easy! Love the small container as it's easier to clean and I'm a single senior! Love Vitamix, I've been a Vegatarian over 30 yrs, Vitamix is a must, it creates healthy and fabulous tasting "fast food"!!!

Fast, yummy, cheap AND easy!!
I guess I can't give a completely accurate review...because I used dry roasted peanuts with sea salt (huge jar for about $6 from costco), BUT that's pretty much the same thing, right?! It's delicious and it worked great! LOVE the vitamix! Honestly, the sounds it was making freaked me out for a minute, but it all turned out fine and the peanut butter is golden! You just need to make sure to use the tamper to get the corners pushed in toward the blade and keep using the tamper to push stuff around for the whole minute-ish.
To clean it, I put about 3 cups of hot water with some soap in the vitamix pitcher and let it run for a few minutes on level 4-ish and it cleaned up great too! (I have heard from others that cleaning it is a pain...but NOT if you go the lazy way:)

Amazing peanut butter
I've had my vitamix for about a week and a few days now. I use it almost every day sometimes more than once a day. Yesterday I made this peanut butter and once it was done I added 3/4 tsp sea salt and 1 1/2 tbsp organic honey. It came out creamy and delicious. Best peanut butter I have ever had! I even drove some to my parents house and they loved it. Since I don't eat peanut butter all the time I can easily make it when ever I want it. Lots of room for customization.

Great Recipe, turns out as expected
Love my Vitamix, use it everyday. This recipe turned out perfect! Followed the directions and now I have fresh peanut butter. I can taste the difference. I was using Laura Scudders, this is so much better. There are not a lot of additional notes because there are only 2 ingredients, 1 if you dont use salt. The only thing I would say is use good fresh nuts, you cant skimp on this one. Wait till the end to add any salt as you cant tell how much it will affect the taste until then. I was careful not to burn out my motor, butters are definitely a strain. I would pulse for a minute and tamp, then let the vitamix rest, be sure to use the tamper. It will take a couple of rounds before it is done. As far as cleaning, consider making a banana chocolate smoothie after you are done making the butter, let the smoothie clean the machine, bonus....no wasted peanut butter, happy mouth.

OMG! better than store bought Peanut butter - and
A heck of a lot cheaper and simply delicious! Made smooth peanut butter from salted roasted peanuts- I added maybe a tablespoon of canola oil for smoothness to 2 cups of nuts- that is it I followed instructions and it came out buttery smooth and delicious.
Bought the Costco- Kirkland super extra large roasted and salted 2.5 lb - tested with 2 cups I am going to try adding some honey for sweetness - let you all know how it comes out - next up Almond butter! Stay tuned and this time I'll post a video -
