Blending Cup with SELF-DETECT™ is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 148.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Powerful blender, but is it reliable? The blending cup is great for making smoothies. Just the right size and shape to blend everything. It is not good, however in making small batches of sauces, dips, etc. The cup is too deep and narrow. The blending bowls should be a good alternative, but I find them, at times, to be too small to make the quantity I am after. Tried to make a dip that required 8 oz of sour cream. The cup was too large (and narrow) and the bowl too small to handle this quantity. A bowl size in the 12-16 oz range would be welcome addition to the Vitamix line up, with a shape similar to your bowls, but a little deeper. The cup can be simply too deep.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from bad design the overall design of this cup is awful. pretty sad that for the price of one cup you can almost buy a whole magic bullet kit that will work better than this does. the actual blender it self is 10/10 in my opinion and i love it. the problem is solely this cup. It does work better when only blending fresh ingredients like fresh fruit with lots of juice/ liquid. but as soon as you try and blend frozen fruit for smoothies i find myself taking it off the blender multiple times to shake it to reposition the fruit chunks so it will blend them. if the cut wast tapered so much on the inside and didn't have so large of baffles i feel that it would do a much better job

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and Excellent, works for me.. A cup and a bowl came with the Vitamix bundle from Costco. I use the cup every day. Love, love, love it. Don't 'pack' it, make sure all the ingredients are 'loose' almost to the top, then add liquid well over half way. The trick, IMHO, is to turn it up really slowly, it takes at least 30-40 seconds to reach full speed. Once blended, remove the blades, toss in a scoop of protein powder, a blender wisk (those little wire ball things from the shake type of blender bottles) Put the lid back on, give it a shake and go.... One other item...I take an over the counter Osteo supplement which come in a large nasty pill. Now that supplement is tossed in the mix and is really easy to take! Thanks Vitamix

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not great The lid is great, seals well and of robust material. A bit wide for carrying in a bag but that’s the nature of the flange design. The container itself has less capacity than I expected and would like but it does seem to have a vacuum layer to provide insulation which helps keep stuff at temp. The blending is ok. I think it should do better at circulating the mixture from top to bottom as sometimes the mixture is inconsistent top to bottom. This is always solved by giving it a hand shake in between or running it multiple times. But than you are adding heat to the mixture and oxidizing the food even more. Probably better than most blenders of it’s kind but not quite what I expected from vitamix. If I could revisit I would stick with my full size container and just use my own bottle. Or get a second smaller (32oz etc container for smaller batches)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great accessory My wife has had the "bullet" for years and when I bnought the Vitamix, we decided to get the blending cup. It is very well built but it is difficult to clean toward the narrow bottom. We bought a tool at bed bath and beyond to help with cleaning.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible design. Waste of money. I've purchased the Blending Cups and Blending Bowls and both products are a waste of money in my opinion. The cups: I purchased it because I make a smoothie every day and thought it would be easy to make it take it to go. The problem is the design itself. You cannot fill the cup so the content blend equally / evenly. I've found myself having to use the main mixer and just using it as a to-go cup. Then I realized it was way too difficult to clean so I'm just not using the product at old Ninja to go cup is much better and dishwasher safe, making my life easier. The bowls: the design itself is better, they are a bit small, but to be expected. Problem with this product is, I blended Cloves to make ground cloves. Well, the bowl has a stain and smell to it now that cannot be removed. I soaked the product in soapy water, then water/vinegar - let sit for hours. I even subjected it to the dishwasher, which did nothing. Pure waste. Its good for a tupperware, but definitely not worth a $100 tupperware. dont get me wrong. Vitamix Ascent has changed my life and by far the best belnder I've ever tried. These "add-on" products are a waste. Required to get a better review? 1) Better design. Make the internal width of the cup consistent throughout. Not narrow at the bottom, wide at the top. 2) If you promote its OK to blend fresh spices, make sure they dont stain the plastic.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible The rim around this cup isn't completely sealed (where the 2 sensors are located). Which can lead to your smoothie getting in between the unsealed location and cause food/bacteria build up. I've attached pictures but I'm unsure if it will show up in this review. I've contacted Vitamix about this issue (with pictures) but they've only sent me new rubber seals which I did not need. It's either a design flaw of the cup or mine is defected. I've owned this for 2 months and I can't imagine the buildup it will get in the future. And you can't clean it unless you break it open.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Difficult to open and close The smaller 8oz version has ridges exposed on the outside which makes it easier to open and close. This one however is housed in smooth exterior, and this makes it difficult to open and close. I hope the designers look into this. I think the blending performance is somewhat worse than the 8oz containers. The narrow part makes it unstable as well, since it is pretty tall. I would only get this for smoothies, if you blend anything else it will be difficult to get the contents out.
