Asian Buffalo Sauce
Classic Asian flavors are brightened up with the addition of a whole orange—including a bit of the peel—and fresh ginger, making this a tasty twist on buffalo sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 Large orange, peeled, halved
- 1 Tablespoon fresh ginger root
- 2 Tablespoons honey, or sugar
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2.5 cm (1 inch) orange peel
- 60 ml (¼ cup) soya sauce
Directions
- Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure lid.
- Select Variable 1.
- Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High.
- Blend for 45 seconds until smooth, using the tamper to press the ingredients into the blades.
Notes
For serving: Toss cooked wings in sauce. This is a low fat twist on traditional Buffalo wing sauce. You can also serve it with grilled ribs, chicken, or tofu.

Not bad!
The reviewers are right that this is a mediocre recipe, but I tweeted it a little by adding extra soy sauce and rice vinegar and it turned out to be really good!

Pretty Good!
I'm not sure why the other reviewers were disappointed. Me and my husband tried this recipe and really enjoyed it! We doubled the sauce, but didn't have any oranges on hand, so we used 3 clementines and half a clementine peel instead. We coated chicken tenders in it and ate it over rice. The only reason why I can see that people might not have been satisfied is that it might be mislabeled. It wasn't really buffalo sauce, mainly spicy orange Asian sauce. Still, it was really good and I would make it again. :)

No Dice
Made this recipe last night. Some of the ingredients are a bit vague (1.5 by 5. cube of ginger, 2 inch strip of orange peel) so maybe I overdid something. Either way, it didn't taste like it was anywhere near tasting good. Pretty disappointed.

Did not taste good.
I wanted a slightly spicy sauce to put on chicken. I blended the sauce from the recipe. It felt overpowering in some flavor and muddy tasting at the same time. Taste before putting on your chicken. Would not recommend.
