Chocolate Avocado Freeze
Banana and avocado help give this frozen treat its creamy texture. Plus a little chocolate flavor never hurts. So, what’s not to love?
Ingredients
- 3 (360 g) bananas, peeled, halved
- ¾ (100 g) avocado, pitted, peeled
- ½ cup (64 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- ⅓ cup (105 g) Homemade Date Syrup
- 5¾ cup (750 g) ice cubes
Directions
- Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
- Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed. Blend for 30 seconds, using the tamper to press ingredients toward the blades.
- In about 30-60 seconds, the sound of the motor will change and four mounds should form. Stop the machine. Do not over mix or melting will occur. Serve immediately.

Nice dessert with cocoa powder
I have an A2300i series which has a frozen dessert setting, however which these ingredients I would use the normal blending setting to make this smoother. I followed the recipe first time an selected the frozen dessert setting, the ice cubes left in big chucks and the avocado in green pieces. First of all this is not a frozen dessert ( won’t be cold enough from 3 ice cubes). Second the amount of ingredients weren’t enough for the container ( 2L).
Third, I used 2 big tbsp of organic cocoa powder, maple syrup and vanilla extract for a nicer favour. I used a whole avocado and 2 bananas.

Make it with cacao
I'm sorry, I just had to comment. Why would you make an otherwise deliciously good for you desert with HOT CHOCOLATE MIX??? All you have to do is substitute cacao and you have a superfood desert. Come on Vitamix!!!!

Good but calories are different compared to the ap
Everything about this recipe is good, except the inconsistency of the calorie count. The vitamix app has it listed as 37 calories per half cup when it's nowhere near that low.

Hot chocolate substitutions
You can use cocoa instead of hot chocolate mix. The brand and type can make a difference (cocoa is a bit like wine; different processing, sources and brands have different flavors and strengths), I like to use Devine (it’s dutch processed) which I get at Whole Foods. You’ll probably want to use a sweetener with the cocoa, such as sugar (not my favorite), honey (my go to), maple syrup, etc. Add as much cocoa and sweetener to taste. Cocoa is strong, ie it can dominate other flavors, so start modestly then you can add more.

This tastes like one of the richest ice creams I've ever tasted but without the guilt.

Tastes great but couldn’t get to blend
Even using the tamper, the machine had a very difficult time blending. Should I put the ice in in stages?
