Kale and Pear Green Smoothie
This vibrant green smoothie blends the delicious sweetness of fresh fruits with one cup of nutrient-packed kale.
Ingredients
- ½ cup (120 ml) water
- 1 cup (150 g) green grapes
- 1 (130 g) orange, peeled, quartered
- ½ (90 g) Bartlett pear, cored
- 1 (100 g) banana
- 1 cup (60 g) kale
- 2 cups (260 g) ice cubes
Directions
- Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
- Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed.
- Blend for 45 seconds or until desired consistency is reached, using the tamper to press ingredients toward the blades.
Notes
This smoothie is a great whole-food breakfast option, packed with nutrients to keep you energized through the morning.

I was pleasantly surprised by the taste!
In all fairness I had very low expectations about this green smoothie. I didn't think it was going to be sweet at all and I was also a bit worried about the kale flavor. To my surprise, it had very nice taste and it was moderately sweet. I couldn't taste the kale at all, mostly the grapes. I will definitely be making this again.

Have never purchased kale from the grocery
This is a good intro to eating kale for me. The smoothie has a very good taste - you can taste the citrus and the pear. Good consistency. Next time, I will cut the recipe in half to make just one serving.

WOW - amazing taste - very surprising!
I was a little reluctant with this recipe as although i love spinach in my smoothies I am not a fan of kale in smoothies. Very surprised with this as very delicious - sweet (not overly) and very easy to drink! will be making again when I have kale and pears to use up!!

First time I've purchased kale at the grocery
I put this on my list of recipes to try out. Glad that I did - good flavor, you can taste the citrus and the pear, but I didn't catch any off putting flavors like I expected from the kale. Will definitely make again.

EXCELLENT WAY TO EAT RAW KALE
I measured out all the ingredients as listed in the recipe. I added a few dashes of cinnamon to mask the slight raw greens taste, but other than that, this is a great way to sneak some greens into your diet.
