Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure lid.
Select Variable 1.
Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High.
Use the tamper to press the ingredients into the blades. In about 30 seconds, four mounds will form in the center of the mixture. Stop machine.
Serve immediately
Notes
Make your favorite milk alternative in the Vitamix and leave unstrained. Use in place of the milk and milk ice cubes.
Use fresh mint, chocolate chips, or your favorite flavor to make it your own special treat.
Substitute date syrup, maple syrup, or honey for the powdered sugar.
Use a fresh vanilla bean instead of extract.
If serving later, pre-portion ice cream into bowls and place in the freezer. Allow bowls to sit out 5 minutes before serving.
If your frozen dessert is not setting up well, just add more ice cubes (frozen ingredient) to your blend.
Always blend on High. This allows the blades to move through the frozen ingredients and create that perfect texture.

Ice Cream SoupFamily very disappointed with Ice Cream Soup. The mixture never froze. We ended up putting the mixture into our ice cream machine. It was very tasty and frozen as ice cream should be. Feeling very mislead as one of the reasons why we bought it was that the salesperson told us it makes ice cream in minutes. The prep work to put the liquid into ice cube trays, remembering to freeze ahead of time, pain of getting the cubes out, is just not worth the hassle. I can make ice cream so much quicker and better in my ice cream maker! I will not be donating it as the salesperson suggested I would be able to do to free up space in the kitchen.

Quick, Easy, TastyI always keep a supply of frozen milk cubes stored in the freezer in a ziplock bag to make it quick & easy to whip up some tasty ice cream. To make it lighter, use skim milk and Splenda. To ramp it up, add heavy cream or even half&half in place of the liquid milk. After blending, if the four mounds do not form, add additional frozen milk cubes to thicken the mixture up to soft serve consistency. For chocolate ice cream, add Hershey's chocolate syrup to initial blending. Or, add add fresh/frozen strawberries for an extra yummy treat. Enjoy!

Real vanilla ice cream in vitamixI changed the recipe bc ice cream means it to be made w cream. I used 1 cup of heavy cream and 24 frozen heavy cream cubes (made in ice cube trays) then I add 1 cup powdered sugar and a tsp of non alcohol vanilla extract. Blend in order given till mounds form. Will come out as thick custard and place in plastic container w lid to get firmer. My grandchildren love it. You can add chips or whatever. Best part it is nut free!

misleading nameThis should be called vanilla flavored "ice milk". There is no cream in the recipe. exchange the ingredients for cream of half and half and you would have a great tasting "ice cream"

Amazing non fat ice creamI'm in heaven. I was so tired of turning bananas into healthy icecream. This is the best, I didn't have any frozen milk cubes and was really craving icecream, so I used skim milk, ice cubes, powdered milk, spleda and vanilla. Simply amazing.

Not Ice cream!I've had my Vitamix for over 5 years. Of all the recipes I have tried , this is the worst. I've adapted many of my recipes.
You need cream to make ice cream. This is not creamy and melts quickly. It is watered down ice milk. I'm going back to "MY RECIPES" for ice cream.
Only reason I gave the second star is because I felt sorry for all the one star reviews
