Citrus Whiskey Sour
This traditional cocktail enjoys a bright and refreshing twist with our homemade aerated citrus juice. Even thoughwe call for whiskey here, feel free to choose any other liquor you like.
Ingredients
- 6 ounces (175 ml) whiskey
- 6 ounces (175 ml) citrus juice
- 3 ounces (90 ml) simple syrup
- 2 egg whites
- 3 cups (380 g) ice cubes
Directions
- Place all ingredients in the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
- Select the lowest setting.
- Start the machine, slowly increase to Variable 8, and blend for 15 seconds.
- Remove lid and strain ice if preferred.
- Pour equally into glasses. Add extra ice if desired.
Chef's Notes
Although whiskey sour is traditionally served without ice, this cocktail can be served either way. The aerationcontainer combines the ingredients, foams the egg whites, and chills the cocktail--all in one seamless process. Aquafaba (chickpea liquid) may be substituted out for the egg whites to make it vegan.

Tastes great! But, too foamy!
The recipe is very flavorful, but 15 seconds at Speed 8 was to long to mix it. I followed the recipe exactly, but I was so busy looking at my watch that I wasn't looking at the Vitamix. After 15 seconds the entire pitcher was completely foamy and it took close to 10 minutes for the foam to settle down enough to be able to drink it. I know that in a regular Vitamix Wet Container that if a smoothie has too much air in it, you can run the machine at low speed to get rid of the air bubbles, but since the purpose of
