Ground Coffee

Ground Coffee

Coffee is always better fresh. The best way to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee is to grind whole beans yourself!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Place coffee beans into the Vitamix container and secure the lid.
  2. COARSE GRIND: Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to Variable 8 and blend for 8 - 10 seconds. The texture should resemble coarse salt. (Coarse grinds are best suited for use in a French Press.)
  3. MEDIUM GRIND: Start the blender on its lowest speed, then increase to Variable 8 and blend for 15–20 seconds. The texture should resemble breadcrumbs or coarse beach sand. (Medium grinds are best suited for pour over and drip coffee brewing.)
  4. FINE GRIND: Start the blender on its lowest speed, then increase to Variable 8 and blend for 20 seconds. Remove the lid and scrape down the walls of the container. Secure the lid and continue grinding by pulsing on Variable 8 until it reaches your desired consistency. The texture should resemble table salt or granulated sugar. (Fine grinds are best suited for espresso.)

Notes

For maximum flavor, it is best to grind whole coffee beans just before brewing. Freshly ground coffee loses its flavor quickly, and should only be stored in an opaque airtight container at room temperature for 1–2 weeks, if not consumed right away. This recipe works with anywhere between 2 and 3 cups of whole coffee beans.
