Whole Fruit Margarita
You've never tasted a margarita until you've made one with whole fruit!
- ¼ cup (60 ml) water
- 6 ounces (180 ml) tequila
- 2 fluidounces (60 ml) Grand Marnier
- 1 orange, peeled, halved
- 1 lime, peeled, halved
- 1 lemon, peeled, halved
- 6 Tablespoons (75 g) granulated sugar
- 6 cups (600 g) ice cubes
- Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure lid.
- Select Variable 1.
- Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High.
- Blend for 45 seconds, using the tamper to press the ingredients into the blades.
- Pour into salt-rimmed margarita glasses.

I knew that the Vitamix was in a class all its own (hello price tag!), but even in my wildest dreams I did not imagine I could make drinks like this at home. Truly the best frozen drink maker out there!! I'm going to enjoy experimenting and seeing what else this baby can do!

Rated 5 out of 5 by AnnB from Beautifully Tart Margarita I made this with a very large lemon, a red orange, and the lime. I let the pith and tiny scraps of rind. It did need all the sugar to balance out the tart. It ended up very smooth and full of fruit flavor.

Should the rind be peeled from the fruit, or okay to leave on?

how can i modify the recipe for "on the rocks" instead of frozen? i assume just reduce the quantity of ice during the blending process, but how much?
You can simply omit the ice from this recipe. The ingredients will liquefy like juice and can be poured over "the rocks".

The only thing I didn't like was how to get out the seeds from the lemon without losing all the lemon juice. I really don't want the blended up seeds in the drink.
No need to remove seeds if using a vitamx. It will pulverize it and it probably healthier too.
