Brown Rice Grits

This easy-to-make cereal is deliciously sweet when topped with fresh fruit or honey.

Brown Rice Grits

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (190 g) brown rice
  • 3 ½ cups (840 ml) water
  • ½ teaspoon salt, optional

Directions

  1. Place brown rice into the Vitamix container and secure lid.
  2. Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to Variable 8. Blend for 10 seconds,  If a finer cereal is desired, grind longer.
  3. In a saucepan heat water and salt to boiling. Slowly add cracked rice to boiling water, stirring constantly with a wire whisk. Reduce temperature to low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir frequently.
  4. Top with favorite diced fruit, or maybe a drizzle of honey.

  • 1 cup (200 g) brown rice, uncooked
  • 3½ cup (840 ml) water
  • ½ teaspoon salt, optional

Directions

  1. Place brown rice into the Vitamix Container and secure lid.
  2. Select Variable 1.
  3. Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 7 or 8.
  4. Grind to desired degree of fineness, about 10 seconds. If a finer cereal is desired, grind longer.
  5. In a saucepan heat salted water to boiling. Slowly add cracked rice to boiling water, stirring constantly with a wire whisk.
  6. Reduce temperature to low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir frequently.

Chef's Notes
