Apple Cinnamon Date Syrup
This simple combination of seasonal fruit and spices is sweetened with dates. After you've tried this you'll never go back to the bottled stuff again.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup (180 ml) cold water
- 5 (60 g) medjool dates, pitted
- 2 medium (250 g) apples, cored
- 1 stick cinnamon, about 3 inches
Directions
- Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
- Run the Dips & Spreads Program or start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed. Blend for 60 seconds, using the tamper to push ingredients toward the blades.
- Pour into a medium sauce pot and simmer over medium heat for approximately 15 minutes or until reduced by 1/3. Turn heat off and let cool for 10 minutes before pouring into a container, then placing the the refrigerator.
Chef's Notes
- This syrup is ready to use right out of the container. Simmer a little longer to remove some of the water content and make the syrup slightly thicker and sweeter.This is an excellent home-made alternative to traditional sweeteners.
