CLEVELAND – As a first-time entrant, Vitamix® was honored as a multiple-award winner in the 8th annual Best in Biz Awards, the only independent business awards program judged by prominent editors and reporters from top-tier publications in North America.

The Vitamix Ascent® Series won Gold in the Best Product Line – Consumer category, while Dr. Jodi Berg, president and CEO of Vitamix, was awarded the Silver honor in the Innovator of the Year category.

Best in Biz Awards entrants span the spectrum from some of the most recognizable global brands to the most innovative local startups. The 8th annual program proved to be a particularly tough competition, garnering close to 700 entries from an impressive array of public and private companies of all sizes, from a variety of geographic regions and industries in the U.S. and Canada. Best in Biz Awards 2018 honors were conferred in 70 different categories.

“At Vitamix, we have a hyper-focus on creating an unmatched user experience,” said Scott Tennant, Director of Communications, Vitamix. “Driven by our leadership team, this concentration is evident in every product we design, including our award-winning Ascent Series, the first and only high-performance smart blenders with wireless connectivity and a system of SELF-DETECT® containers and accessories, for unrivaled convenience, versatility, and ultimately, personal success.”

Since 2011, winners in Best in Biz Awards have been determined based on scoring from independent judging panels deliberately composed of prominent editors and reporters from some of the most respected newspapers, TV outlets, and business, consumer, technology and trade publications in North America. Structured in this way, Best in Biz Awards is able to best leverage its distinguished judges’ expertise, experience and objectivity to determine award winners from hundreds of entries. The 2018 judging panel included, among others, writers from Associated Press, Barron’s, Consumer Affairs, Forbes, Investment Advisor Magazine, New York Post, The New York Times, The Plain Dealer, Ottawa Citizen and Wired.

“This year’s nominees in the company categories were all impressive, in industries as diverse as technology and finance to manufacturing and retail,” said Marcia Pledger of The Plain Dealer, judging her first Best in Biz Awards competition. “I especially enjoyed reading about technology developments and employee engagement that have led to huge success for these businesses. Even though the real judges are customers and financial backers, nominees in this year’s Best in Biz Awards made judging exceedingly tough.”
