Banana Ice Cream
An easy-to-make ice cream, packed with banana flavor. Create milk ice cubes for a silkier texture by freezing whole milk in ice cube trays and replace these for the ice cubes in the recipe.
Ingredients
- ½ cup (120 ml) whole milk
- ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream
- ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (120 ml) skim milk powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cup (210 g) ice cubes
- 5 frozen bananas, peeled, halved
Directions
- Place all ingredients in the Vitamix Container in order listed and secure lid.
- Select Variable 1.
- Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High. Use the tamper to press the ingredients into the blades.
- In about 30-60 seconds, the sound of the motor will change and four mounds should form.
- Stop machine. Do not over mix or melting will occur. Serve immediately.
Chef's Notes
You can replace the full cream milk with soy milk, if preferred. Freeze unused ice cream in an airtight container. When ready to use, allow to soften at room temperature for 8-10 minutes before serving. Create milk ice cubes for a silkier texture by freezing whole milk in ice cube trays and replace these for the ice cubes in the recipe.

Too sweet, too many ingredients
I did not make this recipe because I concur with other reviewer who commented on high sugar content/sweetness. (Not to mention the calories from the sugar, whole milk, and heavy cream!) I've been making banana ice cream for our grandson since he was 2, with very simple ingredients: sliced frozen bananas (ripe but not mushy), drop of vanilla extract, about 1 TBS almond milk. NO sugar. Bananas lend the right amount of sweetness. If there are leftovers, can be frozen; to enjoy, just allow to sit at room temp for a couple of minutes. Yummy and fun to make with our grandson, who is now 5 1/2 and still loves making this treat with Grandma.

Vegan Version
We make with different fruits and always vegan. Pineapple and frozen bananas with a little almond milk, coconut or any plant based milk. Great frozen treat.
W also make smoothie bowls. Frozen fruit including bananas, a couple of dates if needed for added sweeter and some plant milk. Then top with your favorite fruits, roasted nuts, toasted coconut and shaved dark chocolate. We have these a couple of times a week. Some of our favorite fruit is jack fruit, pineapple, mangos, berries, Whatever we have. We also always add baby spinach. Has no taste and you can't eat too many greens.

Too sweet
This recipe is too heavy and very sweet.
The nutrition information says 120 calories per half a cup but it feels more like 300 calorie per half a cup

Basically Worked! But I Still Need Practice...
It actually worked. But I feared going beyond variable 4 because the motor was making a loud sounds and kept stopping. I did use the tamper. I had to add more milk. Only difference was it did have some tiny ice still not blended. The texture is very good though and it holds up in the freezer! I substituted whole milk, dried milk, and less sugar. I will keep practicing!
