Fresh Turmeric Smoothie

This recipe takes hard-to-blend ingredients like raw almonds, pineapple with the core, and root vegetables, pulverizing them into a smooth and creamy beverage.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups (360 ml) water
  • ½ cup (75 g) raw almonds
  • 1 medium (130 g) orange, peeled
  • ½ (415 g) pineapple, peeled, sliced with core (about 3 cups)
  • 1 piece (10 g) fresh turmeric, washed
  • 1 piece (10 g) fresh ginger root, washed
  • 1 large (150 g) banana, peeled

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
  2. Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed. Blend for 2 minutes.

Chef's Notes

For a more juice-style smoothie, simply omit the banana. If fresh ginger or turmeric root cannot be found, substitute with 2 teaspoons of dried to replace the fresh.
