Container Settlement
Important Information about your Vitamix
Vitamix has been involved in class action litigation relating to seals in the bottom of older containers. We began replacing those seals in 2015, and all containers coming off our production line now have the new seal. We have agreed to a preliminary settlement in the interest of putting this matter behind us so we can continue moving forward with our purpose and mission – to create relationships for life by designing, developing and producing the world’s best performing and most reliable blending solutions.

Previous seal material fully food-safe
The seal in question was made of a common non-stick composite material – PTFE – used in pots, pans and other cookware for more than 50 years. Today it is also used as a coating on many everyday household items such as dental floss. In addition to our seal supplier and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), other regulatory agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the European Food Safety Authority, and the French Food Safety Agency (ANSES) have taken the position that this non-stick material is safe for its intended use. Based on regulatory approval and extensive third-party testing, the seal material is safe and does not present a health or safety risk.
